Yellowfish Trading Company

On the north shore of Kauai, stretching down the coast from the tiny historic town of Hanalei (which I love), there is a surprising and delightful concentration of boutiques and shops that specialize in Hawaiiana – items that recall the culture and history of the islands, and, at these spots, are more likely to be hand-crafted than factory-made.

With local flavor anchoring these finds, a shopping safari becomes a way to dig into the story of place, and into what regional artisans, informed by the past, are making today.  And with any luck, you’ll find eclectic, distinctive reminders of island life to take with you.

  1. I love this shop! Wide range of items and I always buy birthday and Christmas presents here. Great kitschy things, too. You must visit when on Kauai.

  2. I love this incredible store… it is a must see every time I am on Island!!
