Have you seen one of these on island?


Kolea (KO-LAY-AH) “PACIFIC GOLDEN PLOVER”This indigenous bird is often seen along Mahaulepu Beach. The Kolea is usually found in places such as front lawns, ballparks, parking lots, beaches and in low-vegetation mountain areas. At night, they often roost on rooftops. Kolea are found year-round except during the summer when they migrate for a two-day, 3,000 mile trip to Alaska. Kolea can fly for long periods at 50–60 mph and often live over 20 years.Have you seen one of these unique birds?
