Are You Smarter Than Kaimi, the Cat? Hawaii Trivia to Test You.

Kaimi knows Hawaii, as he is one smart cat. He reminds you that it is summer and with road trips and plane trips (we hope you are coming to visit us!), hanging around the pool et al, some trivia can help pass the time (and maybe win you a nice Mai Tai, although Kaimi would prefer some catnip as an indulgence!). How much do you know about the state of Hawaii? Kaimi the cat challenges you to a game of Hawaiian trivia.

Questions

  1. Name the state tree.
  2. What is the state bird?
  3. What is the state flower?
  4. What date did Hawaii become a state?
  5. Name 3 things unique to Hawaii as a state.

Give up?  Okay, it is summer vacation and Kaimi knows that your brain is allowed time off, too, so here are the answers.

Answers

  1. Candlenut tree, whose small white flowers are used in leis.
  2. The Nene, a goose-like bird with clawed, not webbed, feet.
  3. The hibiscus, but not just any hibiscus.  The state flower is the yellow hibiscus.
  4. August 21, 1959
  5. It is the only state that is composed of islands; it is the only state completely surrounded by water; it is the only state that grows coffee; and it is the only state that has no straight lines in its boundries. (Sure, that is 4 unique items, and there are more!)

Kaimi had a perfect score, of course.  So, how did you do on this quiz?
