Holiday vacations are fast approaching and we want to help you with your vacation planning.  Here are some interesting events on the island of Kauai for December:

  • Slack Guitar Concerts — the ultimate Hawaiian music!  McMaster concert series at Hanalei Community Center.  You can catch the McMasters on Dec 1, 6, 8, 13, 20, 22, 27, and 29.  Special Welcome Home to the Whales concert on Dec 15.  All concerts are 3 PM to 5 PM and cost $20 (less for children and elders)
  • Festival of Lights — free event every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night starting on Dec 6.  Beautiful outdoor lighted displays in Lihue at the historic County Building from 6 PM to 8 PM.  Rumor has it that Mr and Mrs S Claus are present and waiting for your keiki!
  • Christmas Craft Fair and Lights on Rice Street — Friday, Dec 6; 5 PM to 9 PM at the Kauai County Museum in Lihue.  Come create a craft and watch beautiful floats of holiday lights cruise down Rice Street.  Another free event that says “Mele Kalikimaka“.
  • Culinary Romp through Paradise — Friday, Dec 13; 9:30 AM to 4 PM at the Kilohana Plantation in Lihue.  This event costs $140/person but is a must for foodies.  Advanced reservations are required and places are limited.
  • A Taste of Old Kauai — Friday, Dec 19; 9 AM to 1 PM; another spectacular food event!  Held in Hanalei, cost $115/person, and features organic locally grown and sourced foods.  The site of the event is the Waipa ahupuaa, one of 67 watersheds homesteaded by the first Polynesians.
  • Waimea Lighted Christmas Parade — Saturday, Dec 21; free event that starts at 6:15 PM and go early to get a good spot, as this is the ultimate Kauai Christmas event.  After-parade festivities include live, on-stage free music at Hofgaard Park,
