Star-Spangled Independence Day


Happy Independence Day!

The long Independence Day weekend is fast approaching calling out for Kauai, picnics, snorkeling, sunbathing, and all those wonderful summery things.

Kauai celebrates the day with many activities, most of which have free admission. Some of the favorite events are:

Pacific Missile Range Facility at Barking Sands

Stars & Stripes Freedom Celebration will be held Thursday, July 3 from 5 to midnight. All friends and supporters of PMRF are invited. The event will be held on the grounds of Shenanigans restaurant. Popular Kauai band Greenstone Project and Hoaikane will perform.  A heart-pounding fireworks display will then commence. Food, games, and craft booths will be available throughout the event. Admission is free and more information can be obtained by calling 808.335.4446.

Kauai Hospice 26th Annual Concert in the Sky

The Kauai Hospice 26th Annual Concert in the Sky on July 4, 2015 at Vidinha Stadium, is the largest 1-day event on Kauai. Advance ticket sales at special prices are available at all Kauai Times/Big Save Markets and the Kauai Hospice Office.  The Annual Friendraiser will feature the largest 3D Fireworks show choreographed to a 20-minute specially mixed soundtrack. Entertainment includes the Kauai Premiere of Hawaii’s Super Group “The Rough Riders” starring Henry Kapono, John Cruz, and Brother Noland with an all-star back up band. Also performances by Not My First Rodeo, Tsunami Taiko, and formal presentation of colors at 5pm with the Kapaa High School JROTC. Come early for keiki games, water slides, bounce houses and more. There will be all the food you can imagine at affordable family prices too, plus silent auction, crafts and a keiki novelty tent. Gates open at 4pm – 9:30pm. Fireworks display to take place at 8:30p.m.  Tickets: Advanced Ticket Prices $10 and $5 (6-12) with Keiki 5 and younger free. Tickets prices At the Gate $15 adults & $7 for keiki (6-12) FREE keiki 5 and younger.
